Where a Lifelong Curiosity Began

My interest in skincare started long before Bare Naked Botanicals. As a teenager, I was the girl flipping through beauty magazines, fascinated by skincare products, ingredients, and the promise of healthy-looking skin. Having struggled with extremely dry, sensitive skin myself, I understood firsthand how frustrating it can be to invest in products that don't deliver the results you're hoping for.

That curiosity eventually led me to a career in healthcare and later esthetics, where I discovered that skincare is about so much more than products alone. I became fascinated by ingredients, how they work, who they help, and how thoughtful recommendations can make a meaningful difference in both the health of the skin and a person's confidence.

More than two decades later, that same curiosity continues to guide everything I do. I still love learning about ingredients, studying advancements in skincare, and understanding why certain approaches work better for some people than others. The learning never stops—and honestly, I wouldn't want it to.

What years in the treatment room taught me.

Three lessons that continue to shape how I recommend, formulate, and care for skin.

  • Every Ingredient Should Have a Purpose

Over the years, I've learned that effective skincare isn't about the longest ingredient list or the latest trend. It's about choosing ingredients intentionally and understanding why they're there. Every ingredient should serve a purpose, support the skin, and contribute to the overall formula.

  • More Isn't Always Better

One of the most common misconceptions in skincare is that more products lead to better results. In reality, healthy-looking skin often comes from consistency, simplicity, and using the right products—not necessarily more products. Sometimes the best routine is the one that's easy to stick with.

  • No Two People Are Exactly Alike

Two people may have the same skin concern, but that doesn't mean they'll love the same products. Understanding preferences, lifestyle, goals, and expectations is often just as important as understanding the skin itself. The best recommendations come from listening first and tailoring solutions to the individual.

My Approach

Understanding the Person Behind the Skin

One of the greatest lessons I learned as an esthetician is that the best solution isn't always the most expensive one. My goal has never been to sell more products. It's to help people understand their skin, choose products thoughtfully, and build routines that make sense for their unique needs.

One of my favorite questions to ask is whether someone enjoys richer products on their skin. It sounds simple, but it often reveals something important: the best product isn't just about skin type. It's about the person using it. Two people may both have dry skin, but one may love a rich, nourishing cream while another prefers something lightweight and fast-absorbing.

Understanding preferences, expectations, lifestyle, and goals is often just as important as understanding the skin itself. The best recommendations come from listening first and tailoring solutions to the individual.

If a simple solution is the right solution, that's the recommendation you'll get from me.

Building a Career Around Curiosity

Learning Never Stops

My curiosity about skin eventually grew into a lifelong pursuit of learning. After working in healthcare and gaining exposure to dermatology, I decided to pursue esthetics professionally, eager to better understand the skin, the ingredients we use, and the many factors that influence its health and appearance.

Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work alongside a naturopathic doctor whose approach helped shape the way I view skincare and wellness. It reinforced something I still believe today: healthy-looking skin is often the result of many things working together, and thoughtful ingredient selection matters.

  • As my career evolved, I opened a skin clinic that eventually expanded to six treatment rooms, combining holistic skincare philosophies with advanced treatments and technologies. I loved helping clients navigate their concerns, studying emerging advancements in the industry, and continually refining my understanding of what truly works.

  • More than two decades later, that curiosity remains. Whether I'm researching ingredients, studying new developments, or crafting products in my kitchen, I'm still driven by the same desire that started it all: understanding how to help people feel more confident in their skin.

What Truly Matters

Building a Life, Not Just a Business

As my clinic grew, so did the demands of running it. Between managing a growing business, caring for clients, and keeping up with an ever-changing industry, life was moving fast. Like many people, I eventually found myself asking an important question: What truly matters?

Over time, I realized the answer wasn't found in a bigger business, a larger home, or accumulating more things. It was found in relationships. The trust my clients placed in me. The people I cared about. The family I wanted to be present for.

When life presented an opportunity to slow down and reevaluate my priorities, I chose a different path. Formulating my own products allowed me to continue doing the work I loved while creating more space for the people who mattered most.

What began as a way to stay connected to the industry I loved eventually became Bare Naked Botanicals—a business built on thoughtful ingredients, meaningful relationships, and a belief that skincare doesn't have to be complicated.

Nature Knows a Thing or Two

The Philosophy Behind Bare Naked Botanicals

Today, Bare Naked Botanicals is guided by the same principles that have shaped my journey from the beginning: curiosity, thoughtful ingredients, honest recommendations, and a genuine desire to help people make informed choices about their skin.

Every formula is created with purpose. Every ingredient is selected thoughtfully. And every recommendation is made with the same goal I've had throughout my career—to help people feel confident in their skin without unnecessary complexity.

Because sometimes the simplest approach is the most effective, and nature knows a thing or two.
